Guidance & Counseling

     The Alma Area Schools Developmental Guidance program addresses students' educational, personal/social, and career developmental needs.  The mission is to integrate a comprehensive approach to develop, support, and nurture healthy, resilient, successful learners who have the skills necessary to carry out their life work plans.  the program is a team approach which includes all school personnel, administration, teachers, counselors, parents, and community working in a responsible and respectful manner to nurture and guide young individuals into caring, responsible, and respectful young adults.
     The Guidance Program is based on the nine competencies of the Wisconsin Developmentsl Guidance Model:

  • Understand diversity, incusiveness, and fairness
  • Work in groups
  • Manage conflict
  • Integrate growth and development
  • Direct Change
     The four components of the Guidance and Counseling Program are:

  3. Responsive Services
  4. Support Services

  • Individual counseling
  • Small-group counseling
  • Classroom presentations
  • One-on-one consultations
  • Referrals
  • Transition planning
  • Advisement
  • Testing
