The Alma-Pepin Lady Eagles traveled to Alma Center-Lincoln on January 2, 2025, stinging the Hornets and gaining another conference win.

Although the Eagles scored the first points, the Hornets didn’t let that stop them. Lincoln led five to one with thirteen minutes left, but The Eagles got Alma Center in foul trouble early on. The Hornets had six fouls with eleven minutes to go in the first half. By that time, the game was tied eight to eight. With both teams not being able to get a basket, the score stayed tied for four minutes. Finally, Macy Stewart driving to the basket, allowed the Eagles to get another foul call. The Eagles went up one with nine minutes left. Around this time, Ava Cummings, one of the Hornets starters, went down with an injury making her sit the rest of the first half. The Eagles used this to their advantage and shots started to fall giving them a chance to secure a lead of 8; the score was nineteen to eleven. In the last couple minutes in the first half, the Hornets made a comeback allowing the score to be twenty-one to seventeen with the Eagles still winning. At the end of the half, the score was twenty-three to nineteen.

Starting off the second half, the Hornets scored the first points, but the Eagles fired right back. The score was twenty-five to twenty-four with the Eagles still ahead with fifteen minutes left. The Eagles forced several turnovers and made some shots, causing the Hornets to call a timeout. The Lady Eagles kept driving to the basket getting even more foul calls, allowing them to get on the free throw line many times. Starting to gain a lead, the Eagles were up by ten. The Eagles started to stall with four minutes left, but it was not going in their favor. The Hornets proceeded to push the ball, cutting the deficit to five points. The Eagles still kept their lead, making some clutch free throws. The Hornets were still in foul trouble having ten team fouls the whole second half. This allowed the Eagles to maintain their lead and gain the conference win, winning forty-eight to forty-two. Mya Stewart stated, “The first game after Christmas break is never easy, but I am glad we worked together as a team to take the win.” This conference win leaves the Eagles 5-5.
