The Alma Schools Students of the Month program to highlight several of our great students is ready to announce the November students. Mrs. Rieck, Elementary School Counselor, has divided our student body into four groups by age. (B4-Grade 2, Grades 3- 6, Grades 7-9, and Grades 10-12) Each month, four students will be chosen by a random generator to be highlighted as one of our Students of the Month. Students will be highlighted on our Alma Area Facebook page, and the Alma Schools website page. Pictures and articles will be posted the first Friday of the month. We are excited to introduce the November Students of the Month!
B4- 2 Student of the Month
Kooper Beres (B4)
Kooper has a mom and dad, Amanda and Bobby Beres. He has one brother, Brodie. He also has 40 kitty cats that don’t have names. He plays hide and seek with his brother, but they don’t play outside because it is too cold. His dad has a ‘buggy’ that goes really fast, and one time Brodie fell off and got blood on his knee. His favorite foods are pizza and lollipops. He also likes to watch Morphle on Netflix. He likes to come to school to play tag with his friends at recess.
Student of the Month Grades 3-6
Kole Brewington (Gr. 5)
Kole is new to Alma Elementary, and he loves going to school there. He loves Social Studies and the BIG gym. When he gets older he wants to play football. He lives on a small farm and has cows and chickens. He likes fixing things. Kole is very proud of his farming skills and mechanical skills. Once, he put a new belt on his John Deere mower all by himself. The best thing that Kole and his mom love about living on the bluff is the beautiful sunrises. His mom, Amy, and her friend, Jake, also have two Australian Sheep dogs. Kole loves them, but they also bark at the cows and coyotes all night long! Kole also loves spending time with his dad, Cale, in Dover, MN. Spaghetti is his favorite food, and he likes watching movies like Free Willy 1 and Free Willy 2 with his parents.
Student of the Month Grades 7-9
Devon Larson (Gr. 9)
The first thing that Devon wants people to know about him is that he LOVES to work. He has worked as a cook at the Pioneer Club for 3 years and recently started working his second job at the Captain’s Legacy. He likes to work to earn money so that he can buy things. He has bought a side by side and an AR15 that he uses for target practice and shooting coyotes. Devon also likes to fish, but he doesn’t have much spare time to do this. His dog Thor is a 2 year old chocolate lab who loves the snow. He doesn’t have any siblings which he says makes life easier since he doesn’t have to worry about others. His favorite things at school are recess and math. Since he has a great work ethic, loves money and loves numbers, his dream is to become a millionaire by working hard and investing in the stock market. (He has already profited from the stock market already.) He likes going to school in Alma because there is a lot of student - teacher contact which makes learning easier.
Student of the Month Grades 10-12
Keegan Stiehl (Gr. 10)
Keegan is a very active student both in school and in his free time. He likes to fish, hunt, play basketball and baseball. He doesn’t have a favorite species of fish to fish for, but he fishes for bass, northern and blue gills. Keegan and some of his buddies from Pepin and Alma have formed a group called the “Coon Commanders”. They spend a lot of evenings together hunting racoons and just having fun. He also hunts for ducks and deer. Last year, he harvested his biggest deer while bowhunting. It was a 13 point buck that scored 140. His family consists of his mom and dad, Jill and Chris , and his older brother, Riley. He has a 13 year old dachshund named Coco. He describes his brother Riley as “the nicest brother I’ve ever had.” He has also enjoyed traveling to Hayward, Florida, and Alaska with his family.
