Recently, Lu Ann Flury won the 2022 WASDA Burt Grover Child Advocacy Award. Mrs. Flury was nominated by the Alma Area Schools for all the wonderful things she does for our school district, our students and staff, as well as our community. Lu Ann is a true advocate for the Alma School District and her gracious support is absolutely amazing and greatly appreciated.
Along with her award, Lu Ann was presented a framed piece of artwork that was created by an Alma High School Student. Lauren Brunner's (Junior at Alma Schools) beautiful hummingbird painting was selected to be part of the award for Lu Ann. Mrs. Flury was then provided a $300 check from WASDA to present to the winning artist. Congratulations Lauren!
Finally, as part of the Burt Grover Child Advocacy Award, Mrs. Flury also was given a $1,000 check from WASDA to donate to an organization of her choice. Lu Ann selected the Alma School District and her and her husband Rick dedicated these funds to be used to further support the Alma Area Schools Robotics program. The school is hoping to expand the VEX Robotics program that Mrs. Brevick has built, with the hopes of including more Robotic and STEM opportunities during the academic day.
Congratulations again Ms. Lauren Brunner and Mrs. Lu Ann Flury on these well deserving awards.
