This week while our upperclassmen were at a college fair, Mr. Stewart, our superintendent filled in to play basketball at recess with the underclassmen. Mr. Stewart is so involved with all of the kids at Alma and is a huge role model to many students. This is just one of the great acts that he does as our superintendent. Earlier this week, Mr. Stewart helped our elementary staff out with morning recess by doing activities with kids before school. Thanks for all you do for our students, Mr. Stewart!

2nd graders have been learning about consonant blends this past week. We ended our study with a write the room activity. Students had to add a blend to a word ending to write a word that matched the picture. We had a lot of fun making words!

Congratulations Evelyn Wayne on being this week's elementary student of the week.
Evelyn is in Kindergarten this year and her favorite class is playing with her friends or visiting the school library. Her go-to meals at school are hot dogs, grilled cheese and soup, and breakfast pizza. She loves playing outside on the playground and especially enjoys when she gets to play with her brother Ben. Ben is a pre-schooler and is her only sibling. She says that she has three cats, two dogs and one unicorn, but they’re just stuffies. Her favorite color is gold, pink, purple, and whatever Ben likes. Evelyn says that her favorite thing about coming to school at Alma is that they do something new every day. Congratulations Evelyn.
The Alma High School Student of the Week is Izaak Mann. The parents of Izaak are Kaylene Mercer and Eric Mann. Izaak stated that his favorite sport is basketball. One thing Izaak would like to change about Alma is the basketball hoops in the gyms. Since Izaak’s favorite sport is basketball, he wants to have adjustable hoops, so that he can dunk. Izaak’s favorite staff member is Mr. Reed because he’s funny and likes to have fun. He said his biggest role model is his brother, Gabe because he teaches him how to farm. Congrats Izaak Mann!

Go Eagles!
Dozens of high school students volunteered to skip out on their recess today to help improve the playground. The group worked together to move a heavy piece of turf so that the merry-go-round could be used all year. Our superintendent, Mr. Stewart, can be seen leading the teenagers. Thank you to all the students who helped today to make a better playground for our elementary students.
