Below you will find a link to a 2 question survey that we are asking all parents to complete. Please complete one survey for each school-aged child. Although this survey is short, it will provide us with a lot of beneficial information as we gear up for the start of the 2020-21 school year. I have also embedded a video into the survey that will explain the survey and provide parents with some additional information. If you have any questions after watching the video, or when completing the survey, please do not hesitate to contact me. We know that we still have challenges and inconsistencies ahead of us, but I can assure all of you that we will continue to work hard and be here for all of our students and families. Thank you for your continued help and support. Survey Link: https://forms.gle/kRXxcx5oEZnV8x8v8 – Please complete by Friday, August 14th. Make it a great day! Rob Stewart

Reopening Plan Link: https://5il.co/ipz7 Above you will find a link to the Alma School District’s initial reopening plan. As you read through our current ideas for reopening school, please keep in mind two important realities: 1) Any plan can change literally overnight. We are constantly paying very close attention to the positive COVID-19 cases in our county and the age group that is being affected. We may be comfortable with having students in our building on a Monday, and on Tuesday we may feel we need to close a classroom, or part of the building for a short period of time to wait for test results or to provide for additional cleaning. As a result, we need you to continue to be flexible and to have a Plan B. What will you do if your child’s classroom is asked to quarantine for 14 days or if a part of school has to be closed for that same time frame? 2)We cannot stop the spread of COVID-19. The best the Alma School District can do is mitigate the risk of exposure in the school setting. Our plans are developed based on the idea that we can mitigate, not eliminate, exposure to the Coronavirus. You, as a parent, need to decide if you are comfortable sending your child to school based on the safety parameters we are establishing. While the recommendations made by the Centers for Disease Control, the Wisconsin Department of Health, our local county health departments, and the Department of Public Instruction need to be considered and taken into account, we may not always be able to meet those recommendations. We must find a path which allows us to balance safety concerns with the desire of our community and parents to have students in school. We hope that you will find that this comprehensive initial reopening plan makes every effort to do just that. A lot of work has gone into the development of this plan. Likewise, a great deal of time and energy has gone into many other educational and risk mitigating strategies, such as district wide scheduling, transportation protocols, personal protective equipment upgrades, building wide sanitation, disinfection and ventilation, technology additions for students and staff to name just a few. We are committed to continue this work and provide all of our students and families with options that work for them. We are also providing our staff with additional professional development in order to support distance learning for students and families who are uncomfortable attending in-person at this time, or for those situations where self-quarantine is necessary. Lastly, please understand that the Alma School District is required to account for the enrollment of every child in our school district. We hope that we have offered a plan that meets the needs of all of our families. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our administration. Thanks and make it a great day! Robert J. Stewart District Administrator School District of Alma
